Government Debt Bailouts?

While the interest in government grants, government relief, or government bailout is more common these days, consumer credit card debt relief is not provided by the government - but, in fact, is offered by credit card companies who essentially want to "cut their losses."

It's a fact that more and more consumers have "fallen" victim to the plastic promise of "buy now, pay later." Out of control debt has affected individuals, families, and relationships. With a rough economy, job losses, and income reductions, more and more consumers simply can't afford to payoff their accumulated credit cards and other debts.

Not surprisingly, with more and more credit card companies hoping to collect what they can as soon as they can from struggling consumers - many of these credit card companies are willing to settle, or "forgive" debts significantly. With debt settlement or debt mediation companies, there is no hard and fast rule on how much debt will typically be forgiven, but a minimum average of 50% is certainly a very reasonable expectation and, depending on your circumstances, it is not uncommon for credit card companies to erase up to 70% or more of your debt. Again, your own personal "bailout" if you will depends on your overall financial picture, your level of debt, your other creditors, and what the credit card companies' settlement policies are at any particular time.
